Kathmandu, Patan High Court judge Matrika Prasad Maraseni died of cardiac arrest this morning. He was 56.

He was rushed to the Kalanki-based Nepal National Hospital after he complained of health complications at 8:30 am today and was pronounced dead by the hospital amidst the treatment at 10:00 am, according to Court Spokesperson Tirtharaj Bhattarai.

He had joined the Patan High Court only a few days back following his promotion from the district judge. His last rites are to be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today itself, it is said.
