Over 1,500 election publicity items violating code of conduct removed

Dhanusha : Posters, banners, stickers and flags placed in public places against the election code of conduct have been removed in Janakpurdham.
After repeated complaints to the District Election Office, the relevant political parties and candidates were asked to remove the campaign materials themselves.
The District Police Office said that more than 1,500 illegal promotional materials were removed while carrying out monitoring within the Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City area on Saturday after the parties and candidates ignored the request to remove these materials.
According to the police, promotional materials posted in public places, on electric poles, walls and government structures are considered to be against the election code of conduct.
Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson for the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police, said that during the monitoring it was found the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) had violated the code of conduct the most placing such materials against the election code of conduct.
He stated that regular monitoring is ongoing as the Election Office has also issued a warning that legal action may be taken against parties and candidates who do not follow the code of conduct.
In this backdrop, the local administration, police and other concerned bodies have urged all parties to be responsible to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
The local administration has made it clear that it will continue monitoring in the coming days and will take strict action if violations are repeated.
