Bhaktapur, Speaker of Bagmati Province Assembly, Bhuwan Kumar Pathak, has stressed completion of legal and policy arrangements for effective enforcement of federal set up.

Addressing a concluding session of an orientation on evidence-based law making and parliamentary oversight organized for presidents of thematic chairs, members and secretaries here Monday, Speaker Pathak however viewed the orientation would be helpful for formulation of laws and policies at provinces.

The activities of Bagmati Province should be exemplary so that others can replicate these, he reminded. On the occasion, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Pushpa Bhusal, provided orientation to the participants on parliamentary process and oversight.

Similarly, former Chairman of Law, Justice and Human Rights Commission of HoR, Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, made presentation on role of thematic committees on formulation of laws. He added that committee chair, secretary and secretariat could play significant role on making the committees functional. According to federal lawmaker and advocate Min Bishwokarma, parliamentary oversight is essential in democratic system.
