Kathmandu: Patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Resham Chaudhary, who was arrested in course of the Party Unification Declaration Assembly, has been sent to prison at Dilli Bazaar.

A police team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, had arrested him some time ago when he had reached the venue for announcing party unification between the Nagarik Unmukti Party and the Janamat Party.
Superintendent of Police at Kathmandu Police Range, Apil Raj Bohara, told RSS that Chaudhary was arrested and sent to Dillibazar Jail as per the order related to the implementation of the Supreme Court verdict.
The Supreme Court had sentenced Chaudhary to life imprisonment for being the mastermind of the Tikapur incident in Kailali.

Chaudhary, who was imprisoned for a long time in the same case, was released on the occasion of Republic Day after the President pardoned him on the recommendation of the government.

The Tikapur incident happened on August 24, 2015 during a protest organised by the Tharu community against a government decision to lump Kailali in a province together with seven hill districts.

The protesters attacked police in which eight people were killed, including seven police personnel and a two-year-old child.
