Kathmandu : President Ramchandra Paudel has called on everyone to contribute from their respective fields to the work of ending all forms of violence, discrimination and oppression against women.

Extending his best wishes on the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day today, he has said if women, who constitute more than half of the population, are empowered, the entire family, society and the entire nation will move forward on the path of prosperity.

“Equal access of women to every sector of the state such as education, health, employment, policy-making and decision-making process, and politics should be ensured to fulfill the objective of gender equality and women’s empowerment.”

President Paudel has also wished in his message that this day provides more energy, enthusiasm and inspiration to all of us to work with full sensitivity towards realizing the rights, entitlements, equality, empowerment and respect of women.

March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day every year and this year the day is being observed with the slogan set by the United Nations, ‘Rights, Justice and Action: For All Women and Girls.
