‘Former PM Adhikari’s dedication unparalleled’

Kathmandu: The 27th memorial day of former chairman of the CPN UML, Manmohan Adhikari, has been marked by organizing a programme in the federal capital today.
Adhikari is the first people elected communist prime minister of Nepal. In a memorial event organized by the Manmohan Adhikari Memorial Foundation, former senior leader and Foundation’s chair Ishwor Pokharel reminded the role of a resolute and devoted leader, Adhikari, in Nepali politics.
According to him, prominent leader Adhikari’s contribution was institutionalized by Foundation’s former secretary Hari Prasad Sharma Kafle, Dr Govind Thapa and Laxmi Das Manandhar.
“The late leader Adhikari was active in political movement even before the establishment of Nepal Communist Party. He even spent some time in jail while involving in the independence movement of India,” Pokharel shared.
UML leader Pradip Kumar Gyawali complained that the extremist views were rearing head in recent Nepali politics. Only the fusion of guiding principle of mature leadership and energy of young can propel developments in Nepal, he argued, lamenting unprecedented dent to Nepal’s communist movement.
Other speakers recounted how the leader of a staid demeanor, Adhikari, worked for the country irrespective adversity.
