Sidma civil society came to present the shadow report for seven days.

Kathmandu. The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (SID) is submitting its seventh periodic report on Nepal. The seventh periodic report from the Government of Nepal and shadow report from the civil society are being presented at the CIDCO meeting held on February 3, 4 and 5 in Geneva, Switzerland.
On behalf of the government, Women, Children and Senior Citizens Minister Navalkishore Sah Sudhi and Secretary Lakshmi Basnetko will be participating in the meeting of the SID Committee. On behalf of the civil society, representatives of various NGOs including Women, Law and Development Forum (FWLD) will be participating in the meeting. For the first time from Nepal, there is a program to present the story of 17 year old Prakriti Shrestha Kishori.
The women’s law and development forum (FWLD) filed a shadow report on behalf of 106 NGOs and gave information in a press conference held on Thursday. According to FWLD Executive Director Savin Shrestha, the Chhayaan Report covers 16 topics of discrimination against women, among which HIV is also the first screenplay to be included, said director Shrestha.
After extensive discussion and brainstorming on the 16th topic, a shadow report was prepared and presented in the programme. He told that there was a discussion on the issue of Satavatai Pradeshama. The subject of refugee women has also been covered in this film, director Shrestha said, ‘The subject of Pokharama Tibetan refugees of Gandaki region and the Bhutanese refugee women of Jhapa have also been covered in the shadow report of this film.’
16 topics including discrimination laws against women, responsibility of the state towards women, gender responsibility in the budget, special measures to achieve equality, cyber crime, women’s access to justice etc. have been included in the report in order to explain it to the civil society.
UNCO SID Committee has 23 members, one member of which is Nepali. Shrestha, the director of study of 22-member Nepal report, gave information.
