Youth participation in climate governance promotion.

Kathmandu.The youth of Madi and Tilottama Municipality have appealed to ensure policy and institutional participation of youth in the bodies promoting disaster, risk, cleanliness, environment protection, protection of humanity from the impact of climate, youth-friendliness, environment-friendly governance.
The participants of Youth Participation Promotion Program in Climate Governance held in Tilottama Municipality, Rupandehima 5,6 and 7 and Madima 8,9 and 10 in 2081 said the above. In collaboration with UNDP, a joint planning program was conducted between Jagruti Child and Youth Concern Nepal and the Municipality. 50 percent youth (18 to 30 years of age) participation including women, tribals, tribes, dalits, people with disabilities, 2/2 days, two municipal holidays, Tilottama Municipality Environment and Natural Resources Conservation Act, 2077; Maadi Municipality SARASFAI Procedure, 2076; Madi Municipality was made the disaster risk reduction and management department in 2075, considering the youth’s perspective. This legal document was facilitated by Engineer Yuvraj Panthi, Assistant Professor Dr. Dipesh Ghimire, rights activists Tilottam Paudel, Vinita Karki, Rita Thapa, Shivprasad Suvedi and others in the context of group discussions regarding inclusion, gender, disability and youth participation, operational conditions, as well as advocacy on environmental protection and climate governance, youth-friendliness.
The suggestions received from the discussion were taken by the youth, especially the youth, to ensure participation of youth and women including persons with disabilities in the policy making and implementation of the existing legal system, to amend the local laws and procedures, Tilottama Municipality Municipal Chief Ramakrishna Khad, Deputy Chief Jageshwar Devi Choudhary, Social Development Committee Convener Ravi Century and similarly, Madi Municipality Municipal Chief Tara Kumari Kazi Mahato, Deputy Chief Khem Prasad Mahato, Chief Administrative Officer Sheshkant Paudel, Social Development Committee Convenor Dipendra Raj. Paudelalai youth had made the transfer.
In the context of the 2/2 day program, a 13-member youth advisory committee was formed in Madima and a 9-member Youth Advisory Committee in Tilottama Municipal Corporation for youth participation and inclusion in promoting climate governance.
Taking the discussion to a conclusion in policy form, the guests including Tilottama Municipality Chief Khandle and Madi Municipality Chief Mahato expressed their commitment to address the issue of raising the youth as per the law of Nepal, local jurisdiction and available resources.
The participants of the program thanked the organizers for increasing youth engagement in climate governance, promoting youth-friendly, disability-friendly, child-friendly and environment-friendly governance campaigns at local levels.
