Dhading bus accident: Manandhar trapped in bus carcass rescued alive after five hours

Malekhu (Dhading) : Krishna Raj Manandhar trapped in a bus carcass after the fatal accident at Charaudi of Dhading district was rescued alive in five hours.
The bus (Ga 2 Kha 1421) heading to Kathmandu from Pokhara had met accident at Charudi of Benighat Rorang rural municipality-5 in Dhading along the Prithvi Highway in the wee hours of Monday.
Manandhar, hailing from Imadol of Lalitpur, was trapped in the remains of bus. A rescue team cut the bus remains out and removed Manandhar.
He was sent to Kathmandu for treatment after safe rescue, according to Superintendent of Police, Sumit Khadka. Shortage of essential tools and materials badly delayed the rescue works, he added.
“We had no tools and equipment to remove the trapped passengers who were crying out for help. We just consoled them,” he said, adding that Manandhar was, however, rescued alive after cutting out silencer and hind parts of the bus.
Manandhar seemed normal.
The fatal bus accident took the lives of 17 passengers on the spot while one more is reported dead during treatment later. Twenty six injured passengers have been receiving treatment in various hospitals.
